Our brains are wired to see patterns. Stare long enough at white noise on your TV and your mind will begin to see faces. It’s what we do.
We are adept at filling in the gaps, easily making connections to understand. The law of Attraction is the prime example. Connecting the dots between happy thoughts and hitting a triple 7 on a slot machine is silly. But we can’t help it, it’s in our nature.
In reality, outcomes (in a given context and a multitude of unknown factors) always have a likelihood of happening. And, if you could measure it all, you’d see that they are far more likely than not (Research Bayes’ Theorem for those interested in the math).
Throw in Quantum mechanics, a subject even the quantum physicists have a hard time understanding, and it’s a breeding ground for ignorant attempts to comprehend things beyond our personal limits.
